Ingredients
- 4 oz of pressed beef (2 small packages of Buddig or similar)
- 4 Tbsp butter
- 4 Tbsp flour
- 1/2 tsp salt (or to taste)
- 1/8 tsp pepper (or to taste)
- 2 cups milk
Directions
- Cut beef into strips with scissors. Set aside.
- Melt butter in saucepan over medium heat.
- Add flour, salt, and pepper. Cook, stirring constantly with whisk, until smooth, brown, bubbly, and fragrant.
- Slowly add milk*, while continuing to stir with whisk.
- Cook, stirring constantly, until mixture begins to boil. Continue cooking and stirring for 2-4 minutes, or until thickened.
- Turn off heat.
- Stir beef strips into gravy using spoon.
- Serve over toast or bread.
Notes
*Warming the milk in the microwave on medium power setting will reduce cook time on stove. Be careful not to overheat or scorch it
