Ingredients
- 1 lb hamburger
- 1 tsp beef base
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp season salt
- 1/16 tsp red pepper
- 1/2 cup onion
- 1 package smoked sausage
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1 cup dry rice OR 1.5 cups minute rice
- 1 cup carrots, diced small*
- 3 cups water (2 cups if using minute rice)
- 1 tbsp beef base
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp season salt
- 1/2 tsp dry basil
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/16 tsp red pepper
Directions
- Mix hamburger and next 5 ingredients. Brown and drain in strainer.
- Cut sausage and brown in skillet. Set aside with hamburger in strainer.
- Melt butter in skillet. Add dry rice (do not brown minute rice, add with liquid) and carrots. Sauté until rice is brown and carrots are tender.
- Add next 7 ingredients. Bring to boil, stirring well.
- Add meats to skillet. Stir well. Return to boil.
- Cover, reduce heat and simmer 15-25 minutes (10-15 for minute rice), or until rice is tender. Stir to fluff.
